REVIEW OF THE JAVELIN AIRSOFT WORKS M4 MOE (RIFLE)

If you follow airsoft, you'll know that Javelin is a new company on the scene.  They make a variety of guns - M4s, AKs, a nice sniper rifle - and overall, they are competing with some of the other mid-level airsoft guns.
One thing I've appreciated about them already is that they have made adaptations and improvements on their guns already, taking feedback from users seriously.  This new gun is popping up at retailers all over, but it's basically a nicely geeked-out M4/M16 with a lot of Magpul accessories.  The cost will run you in the $330 range, but for what you get, not a bad deal at all.

The stock is a Magpul MOE stock (not CTR in case you were wondering), but it is adjustable to 6 different positions and it's got a rubber end-plate for comfort.  It's got a Magpul info on it and as you look around, more and more real steel shooters are removing the old M4 retractable stocks and putting these kinds on.  Bottom-line: nice stock.

The MOE grip (also from Magpul) is a great grip.  It's thinner than your average AEG grip and the place where your thumb and first finger meet (what do you call that - your thumb-crotch?) - well, the grip allows for greater comfort on the smooth extension there.  If you do want to swap it out to another gun, just be aware it can take some work to get all the wires and the motor back in.

This guy does have Javelin trades and yes, it is an electric blowback (check out the video to see it in action).  Personally, I like the logo - reminds me of Sparta a bit.  Speaking of cool things, this guy comes with some great accessories like: a 9.6, 1200 mah battery, a charger, a large-to-small type adapter, some bbs (ones you can actually use), a cleaning rod, and some info about the warranty and about finding the manual on-line.

Told you it was electric blowback.

If you like the MOE foregrip for a carbine-length gun, you'll love this one - it's about 12 inches and it fits an M16-sized AEG nicely.  I LOVE THIS GRIP.  It's light-weight and looks so cool.  I added the AFG by putting a rail inside and of course you can add whatever other accessories you want to.

Up front, you've got your triangle sight and a bird-cage style flash hider.  Nothing too fancy here.

If you want to take off the carrying handle, no prob.  The standard M4-style carrying handle is adjustable for windage and elevation and has 2 apertures.  I popped it off to show the rail under and then put on this UTG red-dot.

So what about function?  This guy shot over 400 with .20s, which makes it nice for a field gun.  It'll cool down a bit but will likely still be a bit hot for CQB, but that's ok since it's kind of big for CQB anyhow.  It comes with a 6.04 TBB stock which is nice.  Some of the internals are a bit quirky, but overall, it's an M4 and you can swap in and out parts for upgrades pretty easily.

I really like this gun.  I've had my hands on a lot of guns over the year, but this one is really impressive out of the box.  I'll have to test it in the field to give you the long-term results, but right now - win.

And here's a video review of the Javelin MOE M4 (Rifle-length) RECCE Dissipator
